He runs loose earth gathered at her feet through His fingers.
He admires her fullness as He circles, marvelling at His creation.
He designed her.
“Why her? She doesn’t look like much.”
He traces through her leaves, looking up at her long stalks, and replies:
“Because she knows her value.
Her worth isn’t derived from the look of her leaves, but from the substance hidden within them.
If you’re not patient with her through the harshest of seasons,
you fail to see her flashes of gold and red when she’s in full bloom.
You miss her beauty.
She is the epitome of strength. Her fibres—so strong—other textiles fail to compete.
Her ropes bind tight, uniting trees which form canoes that navigate the vast expanse of the ocean.
She is steady under pressure and bears the weight of what is needed in due season.
She thrives with order.
The significance of her design dictates the process, the method, and the cycle needed to maintain and enhance her.
With order, she flourishes.
Without it, she wilts.
She is healing and nourishing.
Her properties correct, align, and promote wellness within one’s system.
She is a regulator, a restorer, and an energy source to those who know how to handle her.
She is resilient.
When storms pour, she collapses under the weight of their pressure.
But when the warmth of the sun’s rays touch her, she pulls together taut—transforming, firmer than ever.
Challenges never weaken her; they only make her more determined and stronger.
She is protective.
Innate within her is the instinctive ability to protect her core.
Her woven hats shield from the harshest heat.
Her sandals preserve for the journey ahead.
Her cloaks protect from the elements.
She is wisdom.
Her fibres embed panels etched in history, which adorn houses.
Her detailed stitches create designs that point generations toward their identity.
Her markings trace back through ancestral lines—like constellations pitched in the night sky.
While many look toward appearance,
I intentionally created her with purpose.
She grows tall and remains grounded.
Although others bow or blow with the wind,
she anchors down—
and gains speed against it.”
Enjoy the piece, and may it encourage you.
